What is the impact of bioinformatics publications from countries around the globe? Colleagues from ELIXIR Greece wrote this revealing paper that highlights the high productivity of top 40 countries in the world in bioinformatics research. These countries generate 96 % of the entire world’s scientific output in bioinformatics.
We are proud to announce that an article where ELIXIR-SI members are co-authors has been published. You can read the article “A framework to assess the quality and impact of bioinformatics training across ELIXIR” here.
The ELIXIR-SI eLearning Platform (EeLP) is now listed on the ELIXIR Europe website as one of the ELIXIR Training Platform services. This is another recognition for the creators of the platform which enables a single access point to all materials, information, tools and services for ELIXIR training courses.
In a little more than four years since the platform launch we already hosted 37 courses, and this number is expected to grow as existing face-to-face courses are transformed into e-learning courses due to the COVID-19 pandemics.
The ELIXIR All Hands Meeting (AHM), an annual meeting of all ELIXIR contributors, took place online on June 8-12. Our Node actively participated in the presentation of the Service Bundle concept for education about rare diseases. The Bundle will link e-learning with cloud computing infrastructure. Our goal is to organize training courses using high-performance computers for practical training. ELIXIR Slovenia also took part in the presentation of the ELIXIR Training Platform at the Human Data Community annual meeting that was part of AHM.
ELIXIR organizes All Hands Meeting (AHM) every year, where ELIXIR employees from all nodes meet. For this year, the meeting was scheduled in Amsterdam as a live event, but we had to change plans due to COVID-19. AHM will thus take place virtually this year. You can read more about the event, including rules for registration and submission of abstracts and posters here.
A series of six online seminars “Virtual Spring Seminar Series 2020” will be organized by ELIXIR-SI between April 29 and May 27.

The webinars will be hosted by prof. dr. Damjana Rozman (University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Medicine), lecturers will be systemic medicine experts from Great Britain, Spain, the Netherlands and Belgium. More…
ELIXIR and its hubs will play a key role in two points of the pandemic action plan: access to research infrastructure and development of a platform for sharing research data. A part of this platform is the European Data Portal for COVID-19, launched by ELIXIR on 20 April. More …
The B1MG project, coordinated by ELIXIR and in which ELIXIR Slovenia also participates as a partner, was successful in the European call for funds from the Horizon2020 scheme. The project is already in the phase of preparing a co-financing agreement, which ELIXIR will sign with the European Commission.
The central node ELIXIR, ELIXIR Hub, has introduced work from home from 16 March 2020 onwards. ELIXIR Hub staff will no longer answer calls to landlines, but will still be available via email. All events planned by ELIXIR Hub for the period from March to the end of May have been postponed.
